His scientific research was awarded the “most valuable Research Award” of the European Association of Neurosurgical Associations (EANS) in 1999 and the “Neurooncology young researcher Award” of the Association of Neurosurgical Associations of America (AANS) in 2001.

Dr. Kilic was selected as the “most encouraging Faculty of Research” by Marmara University Faculty of Medicine students in 2000. He also won the Turkish brain Research Association scientific Research Award in 2000, the Turkish Neurosurgical Society scientific Research Awards in 2001 and 2002, and was awarded the TUBA-GEBIP scholarship (Director: Prof. Dr. Yücel Kanpolat) between 2002-2005.

His scientific work won the Association of Neurosurgical Associations of America’s (AANS) most valuable non-U.S. scientific study Award in 2005. Dr. Kılıç worked at Harvard University in 1997-1998 on astrocytomas from brain cancers and was the responsible researcher for the experiments that proved the effectiveness of a molecule he was currently working on in astrocytomas. At the end of the clinical trials that started with NIH approval after the publication of this research in 2000, the molecule studied became a drug and is now used in the treatment of some brain cancers.
